SUSTAINABILITY AT OLUS

It is expected that there will be nearly 10 billion people on Earth by 2050. As the world’s population grows, so will the demand for animal-based foods and related products. This puts enormous pressure on our planet’s finite natural resources – a trend that will only increase in the future.

Sustainability is a pivotal part of the business strategy of Olus. The essence of our work is to contribute to sustainable food production: healthy and varied food for the entire world population, without harming people, the environment, and nature.

TACKLING ANTIMICROBIAL RESISTANCE

Antibiotics are an indispensable tool to combat pathogens that pose a serious risk to human and animal health. However, antimicrobial resistance threatens the effectiveness of antibiotics: some strains of bacteria are becoming increasingly desensitized or even immune to these therapies, which is a dangerous evolution.

The prevalence of antimicrobial resistance is reversible, however, and decreases again when antibiotics are taken out of the equation. Animal health through feed additives can help reduce the need for antibiotics in livestock. The science-based solutions from Olus are proven to work in commercial settings to keep animals healthy, support farm profitability, and improve the sustainable production of safe and nutritious foods.

IMPROVING HEALTH AND PERFORMANCE

We aim to enhance the performance of farm animals throughout their lifespan. We do so by developing additives that protect and improve animal health at every stage in life. Optimizing livestock health and resilience is essential to ensure performance and drive overall production efficiency. In this way, we contribute to a more sustainable animal production that is ready for the challenges of the future.

Health problems have a negative impact on animal welfare and yield throughout their lives. Improving the longevity of farm animals through animal feed additives is key to a more sustainable agriculture.

SDG GOALS

We at Olus are committed to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) formulated by the United Nations in 2015. The SDGs outline 17 goals to make the world a better and more sustainable place by 2030. We aim to contribute to all 17 SDGs, but strive to fulfill three in particular:

End global hunger, achieve secure and improved food, and support sustainable agriculture

Ensuring sustainable consumption and production patterns

Ensure healthy lives for everyone in the world and promote well-being for all, regardless of age, by 2030

OUR INNOVATIVE & FUTURE-PROOF SOLUTIONS

Providing adequate animal-based nutrition to a growing population requires scientific innovation and future-proof solutions. We invest in research and new technologies that enable us to support producers around the world to increase their productivity in an ethical and sustainable way.

The nutritional ingredients in our innovative feed additives strengthen gut health, which leads to:

  • Healthier animals with a smaller ecological footprint
  • Better growth performance
  • Reduced need for antibiotics
